The Simply Butterflies Conservation Center is a known refuge for a wide collection of unique and colorful butterflies found in the Philippines. The sanctuary, which is the first ever butterfly and conservation program established in Bohol, is highly supported by the local residents as well as the Local Government Unit (LGU).
After years of intensive development, the butterfly garden has transformed into a beautiful tourist spot and has become a favorite stopover of excited tourists who are off to marvel at the Chocolate Hills. The center offers a nature trail to the butterfly haven, along with its blossoming plants and other interesting flora and fauna. With the help of an amiable tourist guide, the curious sightseers will surely become delighted with the richness of the sanctuary. They can even allow beautiful caterpillars crawl on the palm of their hands, of course, after seeking approval from the center’s personnel.
So what can a tourist enjoy while inside the confines of the butterfly breeding area? Thousands of tiny eggs attached to leaves and stems abound in the area, giving visitors an insight of how the species are born and developed. With this exhibition, one will be amazed to see that the diverse species of colorful insects come from the eggs and the caterpillars.
Once you have amused yourselves with the shy yet very beautiful flying creatures inside the little dome, you can now enjoy the rest of the facilities built to pamper every guest’s desire. Savor and indulge in delicious and healthy home-made ice cream, pastries, cakes, and drinks available at the restaurant. Afterwards, take some time to relax at the pagoda and enjoy the ambiance around you. You can even catch children and adults taking pleasure in identifying preserved butterflies, moths, and other insects on display at the main lobby. You can even take home a souvenir from the gift shop before leaving the premises.
The center also sells live butterflies for wedding releases and for breeding purposes. Everyone is encouraged to protect these charming butterflies, as a form of promoting tourism and valuing the importance of the environment. Anyone can be a breeder of these insects, and the staff from the center would gladly teach and give instructions for budding butterfly enthusiasts.

The town of Bilar is located on the interior part of Bohol, and is a two-hour travel from Tagbilaran City with a distance of 41 km.
